When I read my friend’s blog these days, I discovered that some of my friends are learning Japanese. Originally, I planned to take an Introduction to Japanese course this coming semester. However, after I told my boss about my plan, she strongly suggested me to take courses related to my career. Hence, I changed my plan to take a management course for non-profit organization instead. In the past few years, the government of Hong Kong put a lot of effort in promoting life-long learning; many of my friends take courses during their free time. Even though I’m not in Hong Kong right now, I will keep studying in order to enrich my knowledge!

This morning, I led a training session for 6 of the librarians in our department. Basically, I introduced them with the basic features of Trillian. The whole presentation is around 20 minutes, as what I expected. But what I didn’t expect is the questions raised by my colleagues. Half an hour before the training session, I went to the library instruction classroom and practice for awhile. At that moment, it reminded me about the day that I did my presentation for this position. Time past by quickly, instead of an interviewee, I’m an employee now. When I promise Feng that I can exchange night shift with him, I didn’t recognize that I need to work a straight 7 hours desk shift. And what’s worst, there is no time for dinner in between. However, since I promised him, I can’t change my mind. Julie is a very nice person, she asked me if I need to take a break till 5pm, she will substitute 2 hours for me. I thank for her offer, but I think I’m ok. Then, Julie asked me if I need to work like that for the rest of the year and I told her probably two more weeks. After checking on her own schedule, she told me that she can exchange the night shift with Feng, hence I don’t need to work 7 hours on the desk anymore. That’s really great! I felt hungry around 6pm, so I went back to my office and grab a few biscuit to eat. Probably after I go home tonight, I need to cook some noodle for my late dinner before I go to sleep.

Today seems not a good day for me. After I woke up this morning, I got my milk. But unlucky, the milk got spoiled already; though it said it will expire on October 1. I wonder if that is because the temperature for my refrigerator is not low enough, so I turned down the temperate. As a result, I skip my breakfast and went to work. Just right after I logged in MSN, I forgot to remind Wolf to disable MSN before his presentation; not sure if he will remember that. I started to work for half and hour and I rushed to SAC (student union) for a workshop. Though I’m supposed to be late, I didn’t see anyone there. I asked the guy in the office and he said the room didn’t have anything scheduled, and he helped me to call someone to ask about that. He didn’t reach that person, but he said he will get back to me after he got an answer. When I am still wondering what happened, I decided to check my email again. Gosh! The workshop will be held on October 28, a month later. What happened to me today… I started to work on some web stuff and then the slide for tomorrow’s presentation. At 1:30pm, I went up to the staff lounge and get ready for the b-day party. The party is ok, and people seem to like my ice-cream. However, I found out later that I can’t reimburse the money that I used to buy ice-cream. When the party is done, it’s already 2:45pm. While I started to read some papers, I remembered that I need to set up stuff for presentation tomorrow, so I went to the BI room. I also practice my presentation a little bit, and it’s too short, it just took 10 minutes. Sigh, I need to add more stuff in.

It becomes hotter and hotter every single day. I just can not image how I can survive if the auto air condition ceases to work. In last summer, my car’s air conditioner has ceased to work for a few days. That really brings me down to the hell. This time, I’m sure that I’m right, since there is a sign stating that it’s ‘Central High Apartment’. Alison told me that the apartment building is actually a high school building before. This morning, I also join Jody’s party, she retired in May. They prepared a DVD (which recorded her retirement party back in July), and photo album and a quilt for her. We all sat around the staff lounge and chat for awhile. I think everyone in the room is looking forward for retirement, probably except me. Why me? Because I still want to earn more and more money…

Time past by quickly, today is the last day of conference. Since I need to check-out in the morning, I put my luggage at Kristy’s room. Then we went to have breakfast before we went for the sessions. The sessions for today are not as good as the day before, I only found two of them as useful. Instead of going out to lunch, Kristy and I brought the lunch provided by the hotel and eat at her room. It seems less people attended the afternoon sessions, people probably start to head back home already. As my flight is at 8 pm, I chatted with Kristy for a while before I headed toward the airport. Since I only have one hour between flights, I’m a little bit worry whether I can catch the connection flight. Luckily, my first flight arrived on time and I arrived at South Bend at 11:15 pm.
